Today we are officially a startup. Yes, we have been around as a brand for seventeen years, but all our systems are new, much of our team is young and proud of being at a social venture, and we are moving fast in our partnerships with big players like Staples and the USPS.
Well, we are moving somewhat fast with the USPS. They have given us permission to use their name as a partners. Warp speed, right. We have a “letter of intent to partner.”
Jason Ayers, our CTO at Earth911, is a pretty funny guy, but he is a top flight technologist. After a year we are off all our legacy systems, on WordPress as a content management platform and have launched our new search. Now you can make a list of all the things in your office you want to recycle, type it into our database, and we will return a location in your zip code where you can drop all your stuff. This makes us the “last mile in product stewardship,” according to Jason.
With the shackles of our past finally cast off (this took longer than anyone thought). We can now be officially a startup. I’m going to call us Startup 102, rather than 101 to designate the fact that this is our second start.
