We can now tell how all public companies are doing in their sustainability initiatives by looking at their Corporate Social Responsibility Reports. Amazing how these reports have changed from PR initiatives like “adopt a school” to real data-driven tomes documenting reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and rise in product stewardship efforts.
Most of the IT manufacturing companies are recycling, with Dell at the forefront. Dell has pledged itself to be the greenest technology company on the planet, and this weekend was the one-year anniversary of that commitment. So the company released a report about its product stewardship, which I’ve written about in the news section of the Earth911 site.
We meet with Dell next week. I hope that We can forge a partnership with them; they are a shining example of leadership.

Hey Francine,
We’ve been tinkering with the idea of doing “CSR for Dummies” as part of our new content. We take a company’s CSR report and point out some of the key aspects that the public should know about. Do you think that would make interesting content?

yes, and there’s a site that publishes all the CSR alerts that you can subscribe to.
