I’ve got a Google Alert set for Earth911. This replaces the old “clipping service” PR people used to hire to track the number of times a client appeared in the press. Google is much better than any clipping service ever was, especially since it tracks the non-A-list blogs that also mention us, and there are tons of those.
Ever time I receive an alert, I never fail to be amazed by the number of times people pass on information about our directory of recycling locations to others. This, more an anything else, tells me that we are moving in the right direction and have chosen the right messages.
It seems to me that we can set an intention (yes, I just came from yoga practice) to become a household word, and it is not beyond our power to achieve.
