So I heard last night from Larry Cummings that Home Depot has added 2000 stores to the list of recycling sites for CFLs, which as you know can’t be disposed of easily. We’ve now got them all up on Earth911.org, which doubles the number of places people can take their used or broken CFLs.

Why this is important: CFLs have mercury in them and can’t be just thrown in the household trash. I think people are so new to the entire concept of CFLs and so anxious to do the right thing by switching, that they don’t realize this.

Another big issue: there’s a Home Depot within ten miles of almost every American. That means it is not inconvenient to take your CFLs there to recycle them. Now I’ve got to get this word out on Twitter and Facebook and hope my friends there will spread it virally.
