The July Newsletter just arrived, and reminded me of what an incredible month this has been for Earth911.  Not only are we partnering with MSN to provide local content for MSN.comt and helping Home Depot publicize their CFL recycling locations, but  Jason, Jonathan and I went to Dell for a really good first meeting.

4th of July is coming, and with it our summer vacations.  Because of higher gas prices and the problems of air travel, many of us will be staying closer to home, and thus automatically lowering our carbon footprints. It is getting to the point where the premium we have been paying for environmentally sound products will no longer matter, because ordinary products using non-recycled materials will actually be MORE expensive.

This is one of those unintended consequences that makes me happy. If it takes $5.00 a gallon gas to push average Americans out of their SUVS and disposable-everything mentalities,  I’ll gladly take it.

I grew up in an era where dogs ate table scraps. That was actually a form of product stewardship. If you didn’t eat it, you gave it to the dog. Then dogs started eating kibble. It was a convenience food, a fast food.

Well, guess what? The incidence of cancer in dogs is off the charts, so guess what the most discriminating people are feeding their dogs?

Yup! Table scraps.
