So we had a really great meeting on Friday to hammer out the details on two really exciting partnership opportunities for Earth911.com: enhanced listings and search advertising.
Enhanced listings can already be found on Earth911.com’s business site. They are basically a way for recyclers to draw more attention to their listing and increase foot traffic. For retailers like Staples or Safeway, enhancing a listing for a search on “inkjet cartridges” or “plastic bags” lets them provide a brand voice to their existing, no-charge location listing.
We’ve gotten this process so specific that locations can choose to just enhance their listing for certain search results. An electronic recycler can enhance the term “cell phones” and “computers” but not “TVs,” meaning that the enhancement will only show up on key terms it wants to highlight. It’s the ultimate in customization.
Search advertising is great because Earth911.com has the market cornered on location-specific product disposal information. Say you’re a business in Iowa that sells LED lights; you can advertise for specific zip-codes/areas and the search term “CFLs” and reach your exact audience (someone who’s looking for energy-efficient lighting in your state). Imagine the possibilities.
Many thanks go out to our President Jonathan Smith and CTO Jason Ayers, as well as Earth911.com’s development team. Look for these new partnership options to show up on the site soon.
